GRAND PLAT DE RELIURE IRAN, QAJAR ART, 19th CENTURY Rectangular, painted and lacquered papier-mâché with polychrome decoration. On the outside, an animated scene depicting Fatahali Shah in a hunting scene is framed by a border of roses in cartouches. The interior is decorated with a central poly-lobed mandorla featuring two seated figures in a landscape, flanked by fleurons representing buildings, all on a red background trimmed with gilded foliage. Size: 41.2 x 28.2 cm.
