CENTRAL ASIA, 16th CENTURY
Ink on paper, mounted on card embellished with illuminated and cut-out cartouches. Quatrains in nasta'liq, on a gold-flecked background, one of which includes a later attribution. Margins decorated with fleurons and poly-lobed cartouches, with gold scrolls on a water-green or black background. The triangle inscribed with the calligrapher's name was probably re-inscribed during assembly.
Dim.: 31.5 x 21 cm (page); 20 x 11 cm (central panel).
Wear, folds, some repainting and dampening.
