IRAN, END OF TIMURID - BEGINNING OF SAFAVID PERIOD, 15th-16th CENTURY
Rounded, bulbous, tin-plated copper vessel with engraved decoration of two rows of cartouches inscribed in thuluth, alternating with roundels with vegetal motifs, the lower part decorated with fleurons and domes. Some dents, inlaid with black paste.
Diameter: 28 cm (mouthpiece) and 32 cm (base); Height: 16.5 cm.
Two-line inscription in thuluth: "Salawât" to the Fourteen Immaculate;
Owner's name engraved in nasta'liq : صاحب محمد حسین بن شاحسین, its owner Muhammad Husayn son of Sha-Husayn.
