COUPE SAMANIDE À LA BÉNÉDICTION TRANSOXIAN, CENTRAL ASIA, 9th-10th CENTURY Of conical form, in clay ceramic with painted decoration in brown glaze over beige slip, the center encircled by braided ribbons, centered by a quatrefoil, the wall adorned with a wide band inscribed in ornamental kufic script and a chevron frieze. The Cultural Property certificate is available for this lot. Diameter: 22 cm. Private collection in Paris since the 1980s. The inscription is a repetition of the word al-Taqwâ (Piety). Reglued fractures and corking. A small area of restoration.
