Petit coran ottoman signé par al-Sayyid Mustafa Safwat, élève de al-Sayyid Ibrahim al-Fallahi Turkey, mid-19th century Arabic manuscript on paper, 309 ff and 3 endpapers, 15ll. per page, in an elegant naskh in black ink, verses separated by gilt roundels. Titles of the suras in tawqi' in white on a gilt background. Marginal medallions indicating the "sajda", illuminated double-frontispiece and double-finispice with the colophon. Bound in gilt brown morocco, with a cross decoration. Text : 9.5 x 5.5 cm ; Page : 15.5 x 9.5 cm Former private collection, Germany, mid 20th century. Christie's, Art of the Islamic and Indian Worlds, London, October 8, 2015, lot 76. The description in the Christie's sale catalog where this manuscript was acquired, mentions the presence of an old note in German from the owner dated January 22, 1963. This has since been lost.
