Melissa moldavica flore cœruleo I. Portulaca Sativa II. Satureia Domestica III. Thÿmbra legitima The group to which these engravings belong consists of pages from an illustration album of Besler's Hortus Eystettensis. Published in 1613 in Nuremberg, this herbarium representing the species of the Eichstätt garden was the most complete ever produced in its time. European albums of this type prefigured the Indian botanical drawings of the 19th century.
