In-4 brick morocco. First edition illustrated with 35 watercolor plates (27 off-text and 8 diptychs) by Étienne Dinet, 12 pages, introductory to the chapters, decorated, cover, lettering and various ornaments in the Moorish style by Mohammed Racim and a black map of the HEDJAZ AND SYRIAN ROUTE, all protected by captioned serpents. The book is dedicated "to the memory of Muslims who died for France". Edition of 925 copies, one of 800 on vellum (no. 795).

Painter Etienne Dinet met Sliman Ben Ibrahim in Algeria in 1889. Their collaboration was to prove fruitful, and together they produced 8 works. This very fine copy of the first edition is made unique by its dedication.
