By Ahmad bin Muhammad, Turkey, Ottoman art, 1158H./1738-39 Text in Arabic, in naskhi, in black and red ink, 10 lines per page, in gilt-framed registers, bordered by oblique lines of text, in compartments drawn in gold, 121 calligraphied ff. and 2 blank ff., folios 117-121, in a different hand, the calligrapher's name and date, in full, inscribed on folio 117r. The first folio and folio 19v decorated with gold and polychrome illuminated pediments, decorated with a poly-lobed dome with a background of floral scrolls and tchi clouds. Folios 18v and 19r illustrate Mecca and Medina. Several illuminated cartouches containing chapter titles. Dark brown morocco flap cover. Manuscript size : 16.5 x 11.5 cm ; Written surface size : 14.5 x 9 cm The calligrapher Ahmad ibn Muhammad was a student of Huseyn Effendi. Probably: Huseyn Hamdi Effendi, calligrapher of the Ottoman court, disciple of Isma'il Zuhdi Effendi and brother of Mustafa Rakim Effendi.
