By al-Hajj Ahmad al-Shahîr al-Edirnawi, Turkey, Ottoman art, dated 1759-60 Arabic religious manuscript on paper, 115 folios plus 2 blank folios, 11 lines per page in fine naskh script within a gilt fillet frame. Frontispiece illuminated with a gilt and polychrome sarlowh and colophon of the first part illuminated with two red and blue flowers on a swirling scroll, followed by the double page illuminated with representations of Mecca and Medina. Rosettes at the end of the verses gilded. Colophon signed al-Hajj Ahmad al-Shahir al-Edirnawi and dated 1173H./1759-60, followed by the last double page illuminated with a gilt sarlowh. Binding with flap and cover in brown morocco with stamped and gilt vegetal decoration, restored. Condition: wear, some stains, wetness, some pages a little torn and worm holes. Expert L.S. H. 17 cm; L. 10 cm The Dala'il al-Khayrat (Signs of Blessings) is the most famous collection of prayers about the Prophet Muhammad, composed by the Moroccan Sufi scholar, Muhammad ibn Sulaiman al-Jazuli (died 1465). It is a very popular work in the Ottoman Empire and the Maghreb. It is divided into sections for daily prayer.
