Tenture (Rashti-Duzi)
Iran, Resht, 19th century Square panel composed of wool felt strips and applied motifs of different colors, embroidered with polychrome chain stitch. A large central rose surrounded by eight vases stands out in a black polylobed medallion inscribed in a red square. Double beige and red border decorated with many floral motifs. Large red border of floral bouquets. Red silk lining, good condition, small stains and wear. 153 x 153 cm. This type of hanging originated in the Recht region of northwestern Iran, near the Caspian Sea, and could be used as a wall hanging or a table mat.
