Egypt, late Mamluk - early Ottoman period, late 15th-early 16th century Of oval form, the domed lid, made of tin-plated copper, with engraved decoration of alternating registers, with a background of latticework, inscriptions, floral networks, bordered by bands of foliage and braided motifs, the lid surmounted by a star-shaped element, a clasp and a hinge added later. 36 x 22 x 17 cm Dispersal of an estate: Lisieux Enchères, March 26, 2016, lot 172. A similar canteen is in the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (inv. no.M.2002.1.603a-b).
