Iran, Kashan, early 13th century A siliceous ceramic truncated cone-shaped bowl with buff metallic lustre decoration. The center is decorated with two stylized birds in a medallion surrounded by an epigraphic frieze. On the sides, a band composed of an inscription in Kufic script interrupted by fleurons, and a continuous calligraphic frieze on the rim. On the reverse side, decoration of highly stylized palmettes forming a pattern of "dotted lines and circles". Cracks in the glaze and iridescence. Diameter: 21,5 cm ; H.: 9,5 cm
