Iran, Il-Khanid art, 14th century Eight-branched star, in molded siliceous ceramic, with lustrous decoration of floral stems and lotus buds, bordered with a cobalt net. Small accident with a small lack on the upper end, the two tips on the left have associated repairs and repaints. Diam. 21 cm These star tiles were arranged with cruciform elements to adorn Ilkhanid monuments. Similar star tiles are in the Harvard Art Museum (Inv. 2002.50.80) and the Saint Louis Art Museum (Inv. 55:1919). Another similar star was sold at Sotheby's, London, April 24, 2013, lot 172.
