A siliceous ceramic dish with a straight rim (sahan), with polychrome painted decoration under a colorless glaze. The central composition is decorated with two blue saz palms undulating in a mirror-like fashion among carnation stems, two of which are broken. Half-rosette border on blue background. Condition: matified glaze due to firing defect; several fractures restored.
Diameter : 28.5 cm ; H. : 5 cm
This dish with two saz palms belongs to a series of dishes without marli (sahan type) with the same frieze of half-rosettes on the rim and a similar reverse of bouquets of pairs of blue tulips alternating with rosettes. One is in the Gulbenkian Museum (Maria Queiroz Ribeiro, Iznik Pottery and Tiles in the Calouste Gulbenkian collection, Scala Editions, 2009, cat. 27, p. 61), another is in the Ömer Koç collection (Hülya Bilgi, The Ömer Koç Iznik Collection, Istanbul, 2015, cat. 102, p. 271).
