Carreau aux deux aiguières
Syria, Damascus, Mamluk art, ca. 1420-1450 Square facing tile with underglaze manganese and blue painted decoration, decorated with two ewers on high pedestals among blue foliage stems. The upper part of the ewers is not visible. Condition: part repainted on the upper rim and in the lower left corner. H. 21 cm ; L. 21 cm ; Thickness : 2,5 cm Collection of the Ambassador B. There are several tiles from the Mamluk period decorated with one or two ewers. A tile painted in manganese and blue with the same decoration of two ewers is kept in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London (inv. 400-1898).
