IRAN, RESHT, QAJAR ART, 19th CENTURY
A square panel made up of strips of wool felt and applied motifs of different colours, embroidered in polychrome chain stitch. A large central rose surrounded by eight vases stands out in a black poly-lobed medallion inscribed in a red square. Double beige and red border decorated with numerous floral motifs. Large red border of floral bouquets. Red silk lining, good condition, small stains and wear.

Size : 153 x 153 cm.
This type of hanging comes from the region of Recht, in the north-west of Iran, near the Caspian Sea, and could be used as a wall hanging or a table carpet.
