LIVRE DE PRIÈRE (DALA'IL AL-KHAYRAT), SON ÉTUI ET SA SACOCHE - Lot 100
LIVRE DE PRIÈRE (DALA'IL AL-KHAYRAT), SON ÉTUI ET SA SACOCHE EN CUIR FULANI PEUL, PROBABLY FROM FUTA TORO (SENEGAL RIVER), EARLY 20th CENTURY Beautiful and neat writing of 8 lines per page, with a wide calamus line, using brown-ochre, yellow, blue, red inks, on industrial paper. A few rare unvocalized pages should be noted. The manuscript has been illuminated in many places. The pages transcribing the 201 names of the Prophet have coloured name separation markers. Bands with medallions punctuating the four parts of the book. A traditional double page depicting the mosque of Medina and the rawdat with the tombs, as well as another final double page, framed and illuminated, which mentions the name of the owner of the manuscript, probably the sponsor of the manuscript. Copied in the early 20th century, the manuscript is in excellent condition and does not show any signs of use.
